Traditional Fancy Mittens from Jukkasjärvi Sweden

I am delighted to be working with Swedish Sami Ethnologist Erika Nordvall Falck to bring traditional Sami mitten patterns she has collected to English-speaking knitters. I had so much fun teaching these wonderful knitters about the the Sami, the history of the Sami here in Washington State, and the history of mittens in Scandinavia.

Mini Mittens.

Day two we had a little fun making tiny versions of traditional Scandinavian and Sami mittens. Each of these mittens is about 2” tall. They make cute ornaments or lapel pins, and a whole row of them makes a wonderful garland to hang on your tree or over a fireplace.
